Information
Most people want to know as much as possible about their disease and how it is to be treated and managed. They want to know what life will be like before, during and after treatment.
We will share all our knowledge with you. We believe you should be able to access whatever information you feel you need about your disease and its treatment, no matter how technical or scientific, and we will help you to do this.
Without a guide the web offers a bewildering mass of information, some good, some less so. At LOC we give you the best available printed information on each aspect of your disease and its treatment (there is still a role for paper in this electronic world) and we know which websites and other sources give the most clear, expert and up-to-date explanations. We will help you to find these and to avoid those written in impenetrable jargon. And while having treatment with us, you will have full access to the web and can use the time to look up cancer information with our help.
We have worked very closely over the years with Cancerbackup, the leading UK cancer information service, (which is now part of the Macmillan cancer charity) This was co-founded by one of our consultants and the information which they assembled is the default screen in our information areas.
