Jonathan Ledermann graduated in medicine at UCL and UCH Medical School, and subsequently trained in medical oncology at UCH, Charing Cross Hospital London, and the Princess Margaret Hospital Toronto, before moving to UCL as a consultant in 1990.
He specialises in the treatment of gynaecological and colorectal cancers and is the lead medical oncologist for gynaecological cancers in the North London Cancer Network, where he is also the lead for clinical research. His other research interests are in clinical trials and he is head of the UCL Cancer Trials Centre, one of the NCRI-accredited national cancer trials centres funded by research grants from Cancer Research UK.
He has developed and led several national and international trials in gynaecological cancer and is currently leading two trials with novel drugs in ovarian cancer. He is a member of the NCRI clinical studies group for gynaecological cancers. He is also one of the UK representatives on the GCIG, the Gynaecological Cancer InterGroup, an international organisation for trials and treatment of gynaecological cancers.
He has many publications to his name in the field of ovarian and colorectal cancer, serves on editorial boards for professional journals and is a medical advisor to several pharmaceutical companies. He is an acknowledged international expert in ovarian cancer and has lectured widely on his research.
